After a few bad experiences with prior dentists on my dental HMO, I was referred to Dr. Dang when I switched over to a dental PPO. Dr. Dang or one of his assistants look at your teeth more than x-rays! In fact they don't take x-rays unless you need them (maybe once a year). They do very thorough cleanings even removing all those presky coffee and tea stains! Also they will give you advice about brushing habits and inform you of problem areas. I've had a few fillings done and I can't even tell they're there! They also don't rip you off like some other dentists I know by recommending deep cleanings unless you actually need it. I brush, floss, use Listerine regularly and my previous dentist recommended a deep cleaning! Dr. Dang said nope, my teeth looked fine. You may have to ask Liz at the front desk to give you an estimate of how much out-of-pocket your procedure is. She's pretty busy so doesn't hurt to ask for an estimate beforehand to avoid any price shock.
