Because of past experiences, I am extremely dental-phobic. I had a dentist in Houston I loved, but after moving to Austin, I decided to find one here. I visited Dr. Devine's office for a cleaning. The staff was great, but Dr. Devine said I had an old filling that was leaking and needed replacement, and that I had a new cavity. Instinct told me to go to Houston to have that work done, and my dentist there said nothing was wrong with the filling and the other spot is just a stain, not a cavity. Also, they insisted I get a flouride treatment that was not covered under insurance, but I didn't know that until later, when I received the bill.

I have to admit that I haven't used Dr. Devine in well over a year. The facilities are very nice, clean, and the staff was usually very friendly and patient. I had a couple of issues though. I am a single mother of two kids, and money is tight. I felt like they tried to push some of the extras on me. Fluoride, for instance. I knew my kids wouldn't keep up with it, but they kept trying to get me to take it. By the time I left, I was very upset because they made me feel guilty for not buying it. The other issue had to do with paperwork and charting. I had taken my son once and had sealants put in because they were covered by insurance. The next time we went in, they did some more work. I got a my EOB from the insurance company telling me it wasn't covered. Turns out, they did the same teeth again (like I would remember which teeth were done before) and didn't even notice it in the chart. Again, until my last visit, I had no issues. The kids didn't even mind going to the dentist. I just felt like they had lost focus on the patients and were more interested in making money.

The staff here is friendly and competant. The hygenists are some of the best I've ever had and have great chair-side manners. Dr. Devine is friendly (loves to talk about golf) and seems to do a good job. They seem to love to do x-rays, which annoys me, but that's my only real gripe. I never had major work done, but felt confident with him and trust him to do a good job.

I have been a patient for 2 years. He works with my insurance and his team devises a great dental plan for my long term dental problems. I have over six teeth that need crowns and dr devine and his team have done a great job on the first two.

The employees at this office were welcoming. I notified them that I am uncomfortable at dentists offices and they were very cooperative with my anxiety. I was unable to get work done at the time because my insurance did not cover it. However, they were very good at explaining the full costs and procedures if I were to pay out of pocket. It was a very nice experience.

Dr. Devine is a wonderful clinician. His office is spotless and the infection control procedures are top of the line. I am also a health professional and cleanliness is very important to me. The office staff is personable, knowledgable, and they obviously keep up with the latest dental techniques and educational requirements. They are understanding about dental anxiety and make sure that you are comfortable at all times. The office is equiped with modern, well-maintained radiology equipment. TVs and music are available in each dental bay. There are many dentists in my medical office building, but I drive ten miles to see Dr. Devine!

Dr. Devine did a crown for me after I broke a filling and part of a tooth. He did a fantastic job. The crown is great and there was no pain! I highly recommend him.

Overall my experience at the office of Dr. Devine has been good. I have had general checkups, cleanings and gum scaling. The office is well equiped and the staff is courteous and helpful. Dr. Devin himself is cordial although a bit busy. My one complaint is an occasion in which I expressed concern about a protuberance that I'd noticed. The concern was dealt with in a rather brusque manner. I felt that my concern was deemed as more of an annoyance than anything and that it was not taken seriously at first. Later, when I reported the same symptoms had recurred, I had a better response and was referred to the appopriate specialist.

An excellent dentist; highly recommended. I've been seeing Dr. Devine and his team for over 5 years. They are exceptionally thorough, friendly, and accommodating. Additionally, the facility and office is clean and of the latest equipment.

My impression is that this Dentist is very expensive, and this is my main complaint. The facility is beautiful, but it is too open, so you can hear other patients talking; it wasn't private enough to me. I saw Dr. Devine only maybe two times, and it was only for consultation, as I decided not to proceed with the recommended work. His manner was not in any way objectionable. The hygienist and front desk are positives.
