I recently moved from north Austin to south Austin, and went to Dr. Foster as my new dentist. What a mistake! He did not explain a procedure that he performed on me, and as a result my teeth are still hurting after 4 months. He also charged me a co-pay of $130, as this expensive procedure was not fully covered by my insurance. Also, during the office visit, he seemed to be more interested to perform cosmetic surgery on my teeth, than wanted to take care of me as a patient. I changed my dentist after that. Do not recommend!

I know this doctor: 6 months

I have been going to Foster Family Dentistry for 8 years now and have had 5 natural restorations done. The office itself is the best i have seen as far as comfort and relaxation. The front desk staff is extremely helpful and gives me a reminder notice in the mail when my next checkup is due. I highly recommend this office to anyone! A+ in my book. I will never go to another office if i can help it!

We reluctantly switched from our North Austin dentist (Dr. Sonnier) to Dr. Foster as Dr. Foster was much closer to our house. We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Sonnier. But Foster was closer to our house and school. Logistically made sense.
We had 6 family members attend Dr. Foster for a little under a year. Their staff is unbelievable rude, condescending and inflexible. The facilities are nice. But it makes sense that the facility has to appear immaculate to compensate for the lack of a friendly, competent dental office. We switched to Dr. Simons on William Canon. Wow! What a difference.

Pros: Modern equipment. Comfortable facility (large windows overlooking well groomed garden at each station). Cons: High staff turnover rate (considering there is only one dentist), particularly w/ hygenists. Observed Dr. Foster treating dental assistants very poorly (demanding and condescending). I suspect he's difficult to work for and has a difficult time maintaining his staff. Poorly managed office. Billing errors, trouble w/ PPO claims. Annoying clerks calling multiple times to remind you of a future appointment. Frequently (almost always) moving appointments. Questionable skill level. I've experienced unnecessary, avoidable pain during each routine procedure. Bottom Line: Enough cons to force me to look for a new dentist.
