Dr. Lee is one of the best dentists I have been to in Austin. I've been there for cleaning, for root canals, and even crowns. His crown procedures are remarkable. Before the procedure I was always a little hesitant to smile in pictures, but now I love to show off my teeth again in pictures! Not only is he great at his procedures, he is also fast and efficient. Just like other people have said, he really does do cleanings fast and efficient. I think he's the one you should choose to be your dentist. He really is quick, professional, and straightforward.

My wife and I switched insurance recently, and thus switched dentists. He was the closest to our house within our insurance network. I went to my old dentist in April or May of this year. No signs of apocalyptic decay or anything. It's now December. I have my first visit with Dr. Lee, and he immediately produces a list of three big issues. After insurance, it's still going to cost me a couple thousand. Got one issue resolved today. Ended up needing a partial crown instead of a filling, so it got more expensive as the visit went on. He explained things very well to me. Seemed very professional and forthright. My only question is ... Why do I suddenly need tons of work done on my teeth, when they looked good 7 months ago? I take good care of my teeth. ... That's the only thing that makes me question this dentist. My wife and I are exploring other options.

Be Leary, Get a second opinion on expensive work. He will tell you all metal filling have to go... Perfectly good restorations. According to two other dentist I have spoken to this is just not true unless you have a severe allergy to the metals or mercury. I was recently told I need a root canal and crown (approx $2000.00) All the tooth needed was a filling (100.00) and now that tooth and the rest of them metal fillings and all are just fine. Not saying he is not a good dentist, he seemed to do good work, just watch for un-nessary work, thats all I am saying folks...

My boys' first visit was a couple weeks ago. They were xrayed, checked and cleaned in about 15 minutes tops! I do not think this was adequate time to do a thorough clean and check of teenagers' teeth. I'm very apprehensive about going to him again.

Son went for a cleaning and came out less than five minutes later. Dr. Lee did not do a thorough cleaning, didn't give a floride treatment, or polishing, or flossing. The office is very old and dismal. Staff ignores you until they have finished gossiping. The never answer the phone. You always have to leave a message. They do not call to confirm appointments. Service is very low indeed and your insurance will be charged maximum charges

I had a crown & a root canal done by Dr. James Lee in 2003. After two months of terrible pain, I called his office and they said that the pain was normal. I moved to Houston and after three years I could barely bite with the treated tooth. Another dentist suggested I go to an Endodontist since it wasn't normal that a tooth with a root canal was having those symptoms. My Endodontist said that the root canal was done incorrectly. I had infection in my tooth for over three year. The Endodontist had to drill through the crown and inject medicine to kill the infection and seal again. After the procedure, I had to have another crown done to cover my tooth. My insurance requested information about the procedure done by Dr. Lee since they only cover the replacement of crowns every 8 years. I called Dr Lee's office and they did not want to provide guarantee over his work or information about the treatment of my tooth. The person who answered the phone was very rude and hung up on me when I asked for her name. I feel like suing them for malpractice but due to the time involved in legal issues and the time constraint I have, I prefer paying again and be done with this issue. I am sharing my experience so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Worst dental experience I've ever had and I just went for an exam and cleaning. Total cleaning time: 5 minutes. Rough and not thorough. Dentist did the cleaning after quick exam which wasn't throrough or complete. Was extremely hard handed and painful. Had quick tarter scraping and polish but not on all teeth. Dentist said I had a couple of cavities to schedule next visit to take care of and then left. The assistant/hygienst finished by flossing me, broke several floss in my molars which were left there and didn't floss the right side of my mouth. Wasn't good with cleanup either while dentist was working. Rinsed my mouth and chunks of blood came out. Got quote for 2 surface cavities AFTER insurance coverage of close to $200 out of pocket. Quoted to charge for desensitize medication as well. NIckle and diming going on and I question if I actually have cavities. I wouldn't have gone here. I have a dentist already I've seen many years but I mistakingly selected DMO instead of PPO with my insurance and felt I had no choice. I've made an appt with my other dentist for an exam to verify if I have the cavities even though cost is out of pocket. Receptionist was nice but I will never return to Dr. Lee's office.

About Hygienist: The assistant/hygienst finished by flossing me, broke several floss in my molars which were left there, didn't floss the right side of my mouth. Not thorough or experienced it seemed. Wasn't good with cleanup while dentist worked either.

Review of Dr. James Lee - General Dentist Sloppy work - had to go to another dentist to clean up some of his work. Clueless when it comes to pain - started drilling on a tooth without novacain and then fussed at me for jumping. Complained about my tongue being in the way and hurt my nose when he pulled it over to get into my mouth. He is very rough. Overall - don't go there - shop around.

Negatives: Dentist performs cleaning--not a hygenist. The cleanings were so painful that both of my childeren were unable to eat for hours b/c their gums were "dug" into by the dentist. Kids are not terrified about cleaningsOffice staff is very unprofessional ! They can't seem to get the appointment times straight. I was told on one occasion my appt. was for 1:00 and when I called at 9:00 a.m. to confirm was told it had been changed to 9:30! I was told that "someone" tried to contact me to inform me about the change. I told the office staff that was not true b/c both of my contact number have caller id and no one from their office called me. I was rescheduled for another date at 8:00 a.m. and when I arrived at 8:00 was told the appt. was for 8:30. The office staff can't get ANYTHING right. COST: My child was told that she needed fillings--unfortunately not the first time she needed fillings; but when I got the estimate this office "added" an additional $32.00 per tooth for the pain medication that is injected prior to filling a tooth. Of course this was not somthing "covered" by ins.

HE is the WORST dentist that I have EVER gone to. I had a root canal treatment and it turned out to be more than the cost of it. I had to have checkups repetitively because of the pain and in the end, it came to a point where he said my gums were now infected and that I had to get that tooth pulled out. Root canals have a 90-95% success rate. Obviously his work is in the 5% that is NEGATIVE. One of my friends also had work done there and his tooth was also infected. He had to go to a different doctor to get the problem fixed. I highly DONT recommend him.
