I have a serious phobia about dental work and have had to get a lot of work done--root canals, extractions, bridges--over the years. Jerry is the *only* dentist I know who really does provide pretty much pain-free procedures. He doesn't use drugs (other than Novocaine) or nitrous, but he is very gentle and patient. In the past, he's come in over the weekend when I've had an emergency. He is courteous, caring, and an all-round good guy. He's been named Texas Dentist of the Year multiple times. His employees are equally excellent, from the front-desk staff to the hygienists. All very friendly and professional . Five I moved from Austin to West Texas--600 miles away, and Jerry Katz is still the only dentist I would consider seeing. I was told this week that I need some dental work, and while there are probably fine dentist's in El Paso or Midland (the two closest cities to where I live) I would rather spend the money and take the time to go to Austin and see Dr. Katz instead of putting myself in the hands of someone I don't know. I highly recommend him for any kind of general dentistry. He isn't an endodontist--doesn't do the more involved oral surgeries--but he works with the best endodontists in town, and he won't steer you wrong.
