Terrible experience; walked out. Tried to sell me a $300 out-of-pocket mouth guard I could not afford and don't need. Anna Durkin refused to clean my teeth, even though she takes my insurance plan, which pays her, they explained to me, even if she does nothing for me, as long as my name is on her patient roster. She claimed I grind my teeth in my sleep. Then her dental hygienist told me that unless I paid them $300 for the mouth guard that was part of my "treatment plan," she would not clean my teeth. I was not told why these two things were connected and why I could not wait and buy it later (if I so desired) and get the cleaning. My insurance (Assurant) said that the practice of refusing treatment unless a patient paid for another procedure was a matter many had complained about. When it became clear that I would not be treated, I left, after requesting my Xrays and being told that it would cost me $35 to get them. This is how they treat a new patient on my first visit. Their location is in shabby low-rent strip mall, their floor tile is cracked. There is no justification for refusing treatment, however I realized quickly that I had no desire to have my mouth touched at all when it was obvious all they wanted was money.
About Hygienist: Speaks in a way that is hard to understand, refused to clean my teeth unless I agreed to purchase something I could not afford, whispered about me to the receptionist while I was trying to speak to the receptionist about my concerns, heavy accent.

I scheduled both my daughters for a checkup for school, ages 7 and 5. I waited over an hour to be seen. I had an appointment but they decided the people who walked in were going first, in my opinion they could have waited, one was for a fallen out filling, the teen was not in any obvious pain. They assured me I was next, to my surprise they would not let me in, they explained they could not during x-rays. After, they still wouldn't let me in, I asked to be with my daughters 5 times, and the doctor kept denying me, excuse me these are small children, nervous, one who has already had a traumatic experience with the dentist, and they won't allow parents to be with their minor children. You can't even see if your children are being treated correctly, or if they are patient with them. I teach my children how to behave, so this was not a behavior issue, I believe parents should be with their young children weather it's medical or dental, for support and comfort, but dr. Durkins policies are extreme and stupid, I finally had enough and asked for my daughters and walked out! Do not go there, my daughter told me they were not patient. And the customer service is poor. They make you wait over an hour even if you have an appointment.

Hey, guys, when I go to a dentist my first priority is the quality and profeesionalism of the service provided. Dr. Anna has magic hands. When it is about some painful procedure (extraction, rootcanal, etc) I drive to San Diego to see Dr. Anna.

My wife, 6 year old son,and I have been seeing Dr. Durkin for the last 2 years, and each time we have received Professional and Painless care. We consider Dr. Durkin to be an excellent dentist and would recommend her to anyone. She has performed extractions,root canals,filled cavities,provided deep-cleaning,polishing, etc,etc. All the usual dental work that used to scare not only us but our 6 year old as well. Her technique and ability to reduce the usual pain associated with all dental procedures will keep our family as customers and advocates to her practice! Thanks Dr. Durkin!

Eleven years ago we moved to San Diego and I started my quest to find a good dentist here. Well, its easier to meet a princess than a good dentist. The first dentist was beyond the horrible. He could not clean my teeth properly so he simply drilled holes in my enamel where he found stains. One of my husbands colleagues named me a doctor who she thought was ok. I got stuck with that dentist for many years. He was cleaning my teeth and did a few fillings rather clumsily , meanwhile my teeth were slowly deteriorating but I could not trust him to fix them. When one of my friends finally recommends me Dr. Durkin, I had so many bad teeth with cavities and inflammations that it started to affect my general health. I came to Dr. Durkins office in need of one tooth extraction, new bridge, several crowns and complete remake of all front teeth. Doctor looked at my xrays and patiently explained what I need and why. All her explanations made sense to me so I decided to give it a try. After the first root canal I realized that Dr. Durkin has smart hands and an excellent education. One and a half years later I can smile wide again, all my bad teeth are fixed and I know they will never be in a bad shape again. Thank you Dr. Durkin!

I always have good experience at the office of Dr Durkin. The staff is friendly. Doctor is very easy to talk to, very confident and experienced. She did a few treatments including regular fillings, crowns, bone grafting and implants. I was very happy with the results. I was never offered a treatment that I felt was unnecessary. It was always easy to get the appointment even the same day or the next day for any urgent matters.
