First of all, the facility was not impressive, Omni Dental on Jollyville. Secondly, as a new patient they switched the doctor I had requested. Instead, I was assigned to Dr. Lamond who was new to the area and facility. My first visit, was a simple meeting to anyalyze work needing to be done. He was extremely pleasant and put me at ease. But, when it came time for the procedure, he and his assistant worked extremely poorly together. They did not use novacaine, so I was told if I got uncomfortable to let them know...it became clear quickly that I should've used it because there was quite a bit of pain but it was too late to stop and do anything about it. At one point I was choking on all the water and instead of letting me cough they assumed I was panicking and restrained me against the chair! The assistant wasn't giving him the correct liquids he requested and the filling had to be redone because it fell out immediately! On top of it, I was charged a significant amount for the squirt of medication that supposedly prevents sensitivity to cold per tooth, that was not covered by my insurance. In fairness, Dr. Lamond called to check on me the next day and clearly was the new guy but I didn't appreciate being the guinea pig.

When I went in for my last cleaning I found out that my dentist had left the practice, and so when I needed a filling they just gave me whoever was available - it was Dr. Lamond. It was a simple 1 surface filling. Previous to the filling I didn't know I had a cavity and had no discomfort (which I realize is not unusual), but after the filling the tooth was very cold and hot sensitive. Now 6 months later it is still temperature sensitive. My dad is a dentist, and I went home last week and had him look at it. He x-rayed it and said the nerves looked fine(in other words didn't need a root canal). He didn't like the look of the filling though- said it looked like he over-carved it and this could be why I am having the temperature sensitivity. By over-carved he meant when they grind it back after filling - so it's correct when you bite. I was scheduled for an exam only, but Dr. Lamond asked if I wanted to do the filling right then and I said yes. So maybe he rushed and normally does better work? Still not acceptable to me - and my dad also recommended I find a different dentist.
