My husband went in for a routine cleaning and told the office that he would like to be notified if they were going to do any procedures not covered by his insurance. A month later we received a large bill in the mail from Dr. Murphy's office. We called his office and were told we would have to pay the bill. After calling our insurance we discovered Dr. Murphy's office had called our insurance the day of my husband's visit. Our insurance had told his office that the procedures would not be covered and the patient would have to pay out of pocket. Dr. Murphy's office went ahead with the procedure knowing full well my husband would have to pay the bill when he had specifically asked to be notified if that was the case. When we called Dr. Murphy's office they said they would send us to collections if we did not pay the bill. Terrible experience. Despite the fact the cleaning was fine, we would never return to this lying manipulative office.

I have always been a loyal patient of Dr Murphys and have not only referred over 20 new patients to him in the last year but I have ALWAYS made sure he received the money that I owed him. After paying his office hundreds in overpriced services I was rudely informed that I still owed $28 when I made my appointment for a cleaning. Being an understanding person, I felt bad and explained I would pay when I came in for my appointment, LIKE I HAVE MANY TIMES. When I got to my appointment I realized I left my wallet at home. However, I had my ID and explained to them as soon as my appointment was over I would run next door to the bank and get them not just the $28 I owed, but enough to cover today as well. They refused to see me because I owed $28 and then proceeded to smirk at me. TWENTY EIGHT DOLLARS. Outraged, I emailed Dr Murphy, thinking he would maybe apologize for the rude, unprofessional behavior of his office staff. He responded to my five paragraph email with the following.
"Ashley, sorry it didin't work out to see you today. Hope things go well for you in the future."
I have never been treated so poorly by anyone and I hope that nobody else goes through the harassment and bullying of his receptionist, Becky.

It is a wonderful facility, however I didn't feel confident in his ability. We took an enormous number of x-rays over and over again, and he seemed nervous when working on my root canal. I went in for a crown, and midway through he said I needed a root canal. It was surprising, but what other choice did I have than to get one (my tooth was already filed down all the way). I was very expensive for the procedure.

Dr. Murphy's staff is one of the friendliest I have ever met. Dr. Murphy is very thorough and competent. My favorite part of going to his office, though, is the vibrating pad on the dental chair. It feels so good on my back and tush.
